Just found a wonderful website, Ilikegiving.com encourages people to share their stories of generosity and giving. One of the stories on the website is I like adoption. It's a five or six minute video about an adoptive family of nine special needs children. I found it to be fun and uplifting.

I hope you enjoy.

I enjoy training PS-MAPP a lot. It's always a neat experience watching a person's viewpoint grow and change as they learn more about the needs of foster children and their birth families.

Many people enjoy listening too and learning from experienced foster parents. This really helps with the decision making process. So, experienced foster parents - What Advice Would You Offer to Those Considering Foster Care? If you have parented a child or children in your home through foster care, share any and all advice you may have for those considering becoming foster parents.

  • If you knew then, what you know now or what you'd do differently.
  • How did you handle telling your family about your desire to foster children in need?

Foster Parenting Challenges - Telling a Foster Child They Are Moving
Jan 11th 2013, 23:39

Fostering brings with it many rewards, but it also comes with its difficulties too. One of those moments happened for us this past spring when we had to tell two foster children that we deeply cared about that we were relocating and could not take them with us. The day of the move was full of tears - for everyone involved.

It was important to help the children transition into the new foster home in the smoothest way possible. I think we all did the best we could under the circumstances, but it still didn't feel very good.

How do you explain a move to the foster children in your home? What do you do to cope with the emotions - your own, your family's and the child's? Click "comments" and share your experiences or tips.
