Birth and Adoption :
Born January 29, 1960, to two high school students. He was abandoned soon after birth and later adopted by Peter and Frances Louganis.
Olympic Record:
Competed in the 1976 Olympics at the age of 16 winning the silver medal for the US. Competed in the 1984 Olympics and won the gold medal for the platform and springboard. In 1988, he competed and again brought home gold for both the platform and the springboard.
Known for ...:
being the first man in 56 years to win two gold medals in diving by winning both the platform and springboard events in the 1984, Olympics. In 1988, he became the first to win double gold medals for diving in two consecutive Olympics. Probably best known for hitting his head on the springboard during the 1988, Olympics and still winning two gold medals.
Life Facts:
Greg is dyslexic and yet has published two books - Breaking the Surface and For the Life of Your Dog.
What is he doing now?:
Greg speaks out for many organizations including youth clubs, drug and alcohol rehabilitation groups, and organizations for the dyslexic.
